Many challenges faced by local communities and within modern society as a whole have increasingly eclipsed my desire and ability to paint 'chocolate box' landscapes devoid of these uglier struggles. Fossil fuelled driving is a big part of getting about in Highland. Rigs and renewables pepper the Cromarty Firth and North Sea. Scotland is in a hot seat when comes to the future of oil and gas, the energy climate crisis and renewable solutions.

These works are at early stages of development, mostly as oil paint on paper. I am gearing up to doing some much larger pieces.
